Ministerial Program

This program, offered by Divine Light Spiritual Foundation, is beneficial for both personal learning and development, as well as for those who are seriously considering taking the full program in order to become ordained as a minister.  Level I is currently being offered.  For additional information, please contact us via this website under the "contact us" link, and you will be put in touch with Rev. Classes

Each year we provide courses to help people grow spiritually and mentally.  We encourage anyone who has not already done so to embark on this journey of enlightenment.  Our course starting dates will be posted below when available.  Please refer to the registration form under the "forms" section of this site for specific class location.  Completed forms can be handed to the appropriate teachers as indicated below, or mailed to Rev. A. Folkes, 256 Meadow Road, Whitby, ON  L1N 3K2.  We would appreciate having the forms prior to classes starting in order to ensure that we have enough students to participate in each of the programs.  The Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced, Youth Development and Youngsters Development are closed circle classes.  The teachers will determine at what point they will not be accepting any further students.  PLEASE READ OUR GUIDELINES BELOW.


Beginners Class
Beginner's class covers a tremendous amount of education on Spiritualism and some mental and light physical phenomena. This year will prepare you for a chance to join the next level in your spiritual growth.  Group participation is encouraged.  Beginners will accept students that wish to repeat it, and/or new students to "Spiritualism" that wish to learn about Spiritualism and "Basic Mediumship".  Participants in the beginners circle will learn the basics of personal and spiritual development.  Class go until the end of May.  At the end of the course students will be well prepared to conduct a Sunday Service if it is their desire to do so.

Topics include - the Seven Principles of Spiritualism, guides, symbolism, chakras, auras, healing, mediumship, psychometry, higher self, channelling, creative visualization, past lives, rescue and rostrum work.

Materials:  You will need a binder or duotang for handouts.  A manual and some lesson books will be supplied.

Youth Development Class (Ages 13 and Up)

Youngsters Development Class (Ages 7 - 12)
Starting:  Tuesday, September 14, 2010.  Teachers:  Truly Dubourdieu & Barbara Faulkner  Time:  6:00 pm Sharp - class will be approximately 1 1/2 hours.

Open Meditation Class - Open Every Wednesday @ 7:30 pm.  All are welcome!
This is an open class and everyone is invited to attend based on their own personal schedule.  We will also be using the time from this class to have "special topic" nights.  If there is a particular subject that you would like to know more about, by all means, please let us know!  Use our comment section on the site.

Open Meditation Class - Open Every Thursday Morning @ 10:00 am Sharp.  All are welcome!
This is an open class and everyone is invited to attend based on their own personal schedule.  Classes held by Rev. Alva Folkes at her home at 256 MeadowRoad, Whitby.

Intermediate Class
The primary focus of the Intermediate class is the teaching of "Mental Phenomena" (Spirit messages and how to properly give them).  Group participation is expected and encouraged.  Demonstrations and personal exercises will take place.  Intermediate will accept students:  (1) that have knowledge in spiritualism and have previously taken a beginners class or some other form of spiritual development class, (2) by the discretion of a teacher and those approved of and recommended by other teachers in the organization.  Students will be asked to participate in church work.

Advanced Class

Advanced classes will focus on the learning of "Natural Laws" and other universal concepts, with a continued emphasis on mediumship.  
Advanced will accept students:  (1) that have a knowledge of spiritualism and have previously taken classes and (2) at the discretion of the teacher.

Guidelines and Payment

If accepted for a class, you are expected to pay monthly, cash or cheque for $40.00, which is expected at the beginning of each month, whether you attend the class or not.  This "flat rate" will cover the month, even those that have five weeks.  If financially this cannot be met, and you have been accepted, please speak with your teacher to make alternate arrangements.

If your teacher approaches you and asks your assistance to work at a Divine Service, understand that he/she feels that you have the ability to do so.  Have confidence in yourself and your accomplishments!
